The Capacity Building and Mentorship Program
The Capacity Building and Mentorship Program (CBMP) is a collaborative initiative established in 2017 involving the Ministry of Health (MoH), six local universities (Addis Ababa, Gondar, Haramaya, Hawassa, Jimma, and Mekelle), and regional health bureaus. This tripartite partnership was formed to strengthen the subnational level health information system (HIS) and create model facilities as part of the Information Revolution (IR) agenda through mentorship, supportive supervision, tailored training, and stakeholder engagement. Its primary aim is to offer technical support to the Ministry of Health and regional health bureaus on health information systems, digital health, and evidence generation for various health programs. The partnership is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ministry of Health, USAID through DHA, and other contributors.

Enhanced Capacity
Strengthening CBMP districts and Primary Health Care Units (PHCUs) to use data to improve health system performance.
Established CBMP Program and Governance Framework
Creating a strong local institution to sustain Health Information Systems (HIS) in Ethiopia.
Strong Mentoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MLE) Platform
Developing a robust framework for mentorship, evaluation, and learning.
Ensured Gender Equity
Promoting gender equity throughout the program.
