Dr. Girma

Dr Girma graduated in BSc Statistics from Addis Ababa University in 1986, MSc in Biometry from Reading University, UK, in 1992 and PhD degree from University of Kwazulu Nata, S.A., in 2006. Dr Girma attended several short term training ranging from one week to three months in different topics indifferent countries over these 30+ years of services to the public.

He served in a government organizations, NGOs and International organizations in the field of Biostatistics, Statistics, as research program director, scientist and department head in these institutions. He participated in several consultancy activities with different organizations including the government organizations, UN system, NGOs, in PLCs.

He either worked for PLC or individually invited to participate in studies by organizations (mainly NGOs) due to his long year and effective services to organizations he worked for. He also participated as PI, co-PI or a team member in several projects in the School of Public Health of Addis Ababa University both in communicable and NC diseases, ranging from HIV related, climate change to HIS.

He received awards and various recognition from Institutions and professional societies for his contributions in research and teaching of biostatistics in this country and Africa. He served and still serving as associate editor, assistant editor and reviewer for a number of journals. He published over 60 articles in peer reviewed and reputable journals.

He presented his work in several conferences and workshops, and thus his work appeared on these conference/workshop proceedings. He is also co-author of a book and published conference proceeding. Today Dr. Girma serves School of Public Health of Addis Ababa University as associate professor of Biostatistics and head of department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics
